Overview

I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez was founded durring the late 14th century in fall of the year 1296, by Vris Neerlush. The establishment of I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Vris Neerlush electing to pay people to resettle in I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez.

I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez is was constructed arround several restrictive paverstone mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The town posesses a fortified albit thin wall of querried stone. This wall posesses most of the features of a castle wall, though it is constructed from cheeper inferior stone. It would pose a minor chalange for an attacking army, though it's clear the wall's true purpose is to crush the hopes of bandits and marauders. I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez's failry decent fortifications are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez is not quite well. Something happened here, perhapse recently, perhapse long ago. Whatever it was, it settled into the very soul of the town like a festering wound. The people go about their day well enough, but there’s a tention in the air you can cut with a knife.

Civic Infrastructure

I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez's natural decorations nor waterways.

Cultural Notes

I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known primarily for its use of abstraction and simplicity. Clean lines, right angles, and primary colors characterized this aesthetic and art movement expressed via architecture and paintings. Its design ethos allows only primary colors and non-colors, only squares and rectangles, only straight and horizontal or vertical lines. Vertical and horizontal lines are positioned in layers or planes that do not intersect, thereby allowing each element to exist independently and unobstructed by other elements. These seemingly impossible principals for an architectural style coalesces into structures which most experts find hard to put into words. It is not that their geometry is impossible, but rather the style's attempt at producing works only describable visually was most successful..

In I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez birds speak prophesy.

I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves reenactments to channel Abjuration energies of tier 1 via proclamations.

Points of Interest

I̽ti Ovle̜ Kez was unknowingly built atop something unstable, and now that substrate is crumbling. It may be swampy ground or a decaying coastline, or it could be an ancient buried city that’s now giving way. In the case of some antique habitation, the denizens that once lived there might be boiling upward as their home is collapsing, or new opportunities may be revealed even as the community’s present structure is ruined.
